Back to basics

Post by Williamsdad »

Should probably put this under "surf" fishing, but then no one would see it. With Luc gone, and the nasty forecast, decided to go old school today and went west and fished off the beach. Contrary to the Democrat, the water's still nasty, and there's lots of floating "stuff" in it, but fish were hungry for the old stand-by - shrimp on the bottom. Caught 6 reds, 4 keepers up to 27", kept the smallest 2 as they were caught first and the cooler was a long way away. In the end, kept 19" and 21", released 23" and 27", a 17" and another (way) short. Tough to get pictures alone, and I don't know how to post them anyway.

It was nice to get back to the spot where we learned to catch redfish.

Good going. Great to see someone catching. Those posts have been few & far between lately.

Hope you & Luc are both doing well.

We will be down in a couple of weeks to try it out. Hope to give some good reports then.

Good report....sounds like a good time.

I'll be watching for you at your favorite bar. Although he starts his final UWF soccer season in a couple of weeks. I'll be missing a few weekends soon. Hopefully we'll get out on the same one.

yep, 2's the limit, had someone going with me but something came up. Round Alligator Point. Got the 27 right after making a trip to the cooler with the 2nd one. The 23" was right after that, then it was done.

Sorry for my oversight. I striper fished all night last night and somehow read trout into your report. The reds sound great. I haven't run up on many reds all summer.

 Nice post. Going old school....... never hurt anyone, at least not much. Glad to hear you caught some fish and kept it simple

Well done Pops. Countless reds have been pulled out of that area by the Williams Boys for years and years now. Here are the pics from Saturday.
