St. Marks Kids Fishing Question

Post by GoneGator »

Going to take my 8 year old daughter down to St. Marks on Saturday to pick up our boat from the shop. I would really like to take her someplace to catch a few fish but my experience is in places she will not be up to running to, short attention span. I am guessing catching Pin fish is out with all the fresh water? Any suggestions, up the Wakulla or St. Marks rivers for freshwater? Bait? Other? She says we can catch fish at Riverside but would like to take the opportunity to get some real fishing in. Any advice? Thanks!!

There are some pinfish out on the flats. Rig her up with size 12 gold hooks baited with small pieces of shrimp (my personal favorite), squid, gulp, or bacon and have her bounce it off the bottom over grass in 3-6 feet of water. She will catch pinfish and an assortment of trash fish. Put the pinfish out under a cork and hold on.
