If they were all that size you wouldn't be able to swim. After cleaning scallops one day in St Joe Bay I threw a half-full bucket of scallop ooey (daughter's description) into the water. The pinfish churned the water like watching piranha's on Mutual of Omaha.

I wonder if you could eat it like Bman does with other trash fish. ;-)

Yes, I ate them as a kid back in the 40's. They were good! I'll confess, I have not eaten any lately. Some folks say they are boney but not any more than a redbelly. If I remember correctly?

I have a buddy from Pensacola that swears that all the charter captains keep those for themselves. Called sailers choice or captains choice or something like that. I bet Gary Droze knows what they taste like

They eat almost like a bream.
You have to be careful cooking them.
They will overcook easy and get tough.

Sailor's choice is a different fish and it ain't half bad. I can't imagine eating a pinfish unless I was starving. Very greasy meat with a strong fishy taste. I am sure Bman has a pinfish patty recipe though. :o :smt005
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Agree - Sailor's Choice is a different fish with a round black spot near the tail. Andrew used to clean and cook up the over-sized pinfish he caught on my boat when he was younger. They fry up real crisp and good.
