Shout Out to Reel Repair by Jim

Post by silverking »

My Shimano Core bait casting reel was making a terrible racket, despite repeated rinses and lubrication. I took it to Jim Hanshaw to get it back in operation.

Jim told me it could take up to two weeks if he had to order parts, but less than a week later and I've got it back, working as good as new (bad bearing and needed an internal cleaning).

If you need any reel repair or servicing, I can highly recommend Jim. Fair prices and great service, plus you get to talk a little fishing to boot.

+1 to this thread. I met up with Jim when a family member gave me a hand me down reel. Jim fixed it up really nice and it is my go to trolling and bottom fishing combo now!

It is great having a resource like that on this site and is really the essence of why we come together on here.

Yup. Trustworthy as the day is long.

i have lost count on how many times i have gone to see jim. i have had him work on inshore and offshore reels, spinning and baitcasters, big ones and small ones. every time jim gets the job done! i had 2 reels in particular that i thought i would have to throw away they were so bad. but he got the needed parts and got back together like nothing ever happend. his prices are very fair, he is very detailed and meticulous in servicing them and always a pleasure to deal with. and hey the guy is a heck of a fisherman too!
