Mangrove Snapper

Post by ugadawg »

I've heard people talk of catching Mangrove snapper in the St. Marks river during the winter time. What part of the river are they in and how would be the best way to fish for them?

Put in either at the fort or Sheilds. Head down the river. After you get just past the power plant, there will be a bend in the river (you will see the Resume Safe Speed sign. Drop anchor just past that sign and bottom fish with shrimp (frozen is as good as any). Dont be surprised when you catch red fish there fishing the same way.

Up the river. You will weed through a bunch of small ones but there are some good ones mixed in.

I have fished O-bay for a while and have never targeted Mangrove snapper.
Are there any there? and if so where and how do I catch them?
Thanks for any help
