Econfina 10-6, 10-7, 10-8

Post by trout fisher »

Had a trip planned to fish the St. John's River at Astor with my sales team and a gracious representative from a company we do business with. Hurricane Matthew halted those plans. We'd already bought the groceries and gassed up the boats and all 6 of us had the kitchen passes stamped so we put together a last minute trip to the coast. Thursday was windy but tolerable. The trout bite was very good in 3.5-4 ft. We fished with Gulp in new penny and glow with chartreuse tails under the popping cork.

Friday was terrible. Fished 2 hours or so and had to give it up because of the wind. Caught a few keepers during that time.

Saturday was a picture perfect Fall fishing day. Slight cool breeze, (really needed a light jacket on the way out), and the bite was as good or better than Thursday's. Same colors under the cork in the same depths. Caught so many shorts I quit counting. We had a blast and I'm kinda tickled the bream fishing trip didn't work out for us.

Fished both ways but the majority came from the West DR. Between the 2 pvc stobs to be exact.

I'm sure happy with the outcome Ken.
