Well since the great COVID scare of 2020 has us out of the field, we decided to telework to St Marks. Even though our resident plant pathologist was late as expected, spirits were high.
We found the trout relatively quickly....
Then things got sketchy
Luckily it was just a loose access hatch mixed with backing the boat through some chop and the bilge pump got us dry again. Funny thing we were surrounded by boats when we started and all left pretty quickly.
But the fish were slow and steady keeping the good times rolling
And a great end to a beautiful day
With a great "takeout" meal
All in all a great day, 11 keeper trout and one keeper spanish, very few shorts, only 4, we should have had our 15 keepers but my netman was lacking. The fish were in 3.5-4ft, and were caught either on a iguana daiquiri trout trick or sexy penny shrimp in the rock garden near black rock.
We did manage to find one of stoney bayous namesakes
After a good nights sleep, we ran back to the light house in great spirits, to be quite disappointed.
They tried it and barely floated their jonboat
Apparently I wasn't the only one that remembered more water at the ramp at a -0.1 low tide as quite a few people came up to the ramp to turn around and this guy made the comment that the people making tide predictions were phoning it in as it looked more like a -1.0ft low tide.
We decided to head to the waffle house instead of putting in at the fort since we were limited on time and ended up having to go to the one in moultrie to be able to dine in. All in all a great trip to get away from the stupidity of the coronavirus panic

Thanks for the report, sounds like they bit good for yall. We tried to launch at Aucilla yesterday morning and had the same problem, low water and it was misting rain. Ended up at Keaton and had plenty of water with sunny weather, plus about 100 boats trying to launch!

It was low yesterday, but I think the .1 was accurate from what I've seen at -1.0

It was a great trip, that was actually the first time I've been to St Mark's in two years as we normally go to steinhatchee. Seeing pictures of Keaton reminds me why I stay away from that ramp.
