Curado question

I've been doing most of my flats fishing this year with a Curado 200E7. Like it so good I bought another one today. Question is, how far do you go tearing one down to really clean it ? I got in Fri nite from St Marks and rinsed my rods down with the hose good...let em air dry and Sat morning started to oil them..Noticed curado had a bunch of gunk around the lever wind guard. I wiped it with a q tip and oiled it with rocket fuel like I always do...wondered how long fore I need to pull the bearings and soak them and re oil them...From the parts list I can see its a lot more complicated than the 5500's I used to tear down.
Should I take it to a service shop and get it cleaned ?

I'd just lay out the schematics and go for it. You won't learn it like you know the 5500s if you don't tear into it. (Insert smart-adzed comment about "just a casting reel, not a nuclear warhead," here. :wink: )

I take mine apart about every three to five trips....easiest way to take them apart is to take a piece of white paper and write numbers by each part you take off....first part off is 1, second is 2....etc....do it in reverse to put it back together.

Tearing it down to the frame and having the schematic (internal parts breakdown) handy is highly recommended. You will never really know your reel any other way. It is also a great way to notice any excessive wear or parts that are getting ready to break. Soaking your bearings is a good idea too. You may also want to invest in some ceramic bearings, they do not have the same lubrication requirements or corrosion problems.
