Mid-week at the Aucilla-success

Post by No Slack »

Took a day off along with a buddy from church and hit the water at 7 AM. Fished ALL day, otherwise I'd have to be at work  . Hit some previously marked spots and my buddy began showing me up. 19.9" trout, another and another, a flounder. Thought I was going to see a show all day but then it came my turn. 21" trout, 22" trout, 4 redfish 22-26", a spanish in a foot of water and several other 16-19" trout. Great day on the water, 13 keepers, fish fry coming up soon. Most trout caught on glow DOA on clacker, reds on gold/pink spoon. Get out there, the bite is strong.

Very nice mixed bag. What time is the fish fry and do you make good cheese grits?
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?

Grits come out a little dry but the hushpuppies are great. Think I'll smoke some of the trout. Anyone have any good tips?

Don't smoke them very long. personally, I like fish over oak, with no seasoning at all. And never, ever, under any circumstance use briquets. Wood charcoal ONLY. You can get some at Winn Dixie (in Quincy anyways). I think Tennessee str Wally World had some wood charcoal too. Light blue smoke only for me.
