Dumbest question someone has ever asked about your boat ?

Post by Badbagger »

I know we've all heard some dumb questions... I've had a bunch but this comes to mind...

Just about ready to pull away from the dock with the 25' I had when I live in S. Florida, a bystander tells me "don't forget your oars just incase you break down out there..." I shook my head, untied and pulled away...

Couple summers ago, took my buddy's 21 Sea Cat to the lake for a shakedown cruise before he hauled it back down to the coast. Some guy swimming at the ramp asks me "how fast will that thang go with both engines running"? :-D Of course, I couldn't resist and told him I didn't know since we hadn't tried that yet. :-D

Shields Marina boat ramp. Spring of 1988. My Action Craft flats skiff is in one side of the ramp. A local guy in a crab fishing boat is loading up on the other side. It's starting to drizzle rain. He looks at my boat, points to the poling platform and says "hey son.....that's a good idea there....keeps you motor out of the rain". :)

In his defense.....I believe counting mine there were 2, possibly 3, flats skiffs in the entire Big Bend area. (as opposed to today when there are 2 in every creek)

"How much gas does that thing on the front of your boat burn?" That was a great one. :smt005 Reply: It's pretty fuel efficient.

You go out in the ocean in that thing? Asked while at keaton beach boat ramp.
My electronics cost more than my boat, motor, and trailer.
