Spring Warrior 3/31/14

Post by fishinfool »

George Goodson and I went fishing yesterday.
Arrived at the Spring Warrior Creek ramp at 7:00am. There was very little water making it difficult to get out of the creek, but we persevered. We fished a flat in 2-3 feet of water that had mixed bottom. The water temp was much cooler than I would have liked, 58°, but after a little trial and error we found the trout were liking a black and gold redfin. Other black and gold baits produced as the day progressed as well. One keeper was caught on a pearl/blue fluke style bait with an unweighted hook. We kept 5 of the 8-10 slot fish, with another 4 fish being short.
Near high tide we went to a favorite area of George's and started wearing out the trout. Mirrodines were the go to bait. Within an hour were caught and released approximately 10 trout between 16 and 20 inches. All were very healthy and chunky. One keeper red was caught by George and made it's way home with us.
It was a great day. The wind cooperated nicely. It started at 3-5 mph out of the N.E. and finished at 10-12 out of the S. Water temp started at 58°, and finished at 64°.
Sorry no pics, we were too busy catching fish to be concerned with such trivial matters.

Nice work! Gotta love fishing that area..

Going out of SW on a low is definitely entertaining
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark
