That's straight up BS. Somehow I can't imagine pouring carbonated sugar and acid down a fish's throat as doing them any good.

I've never heard of doing this with coke.
Citrus based products such as mountain dew and sprite have proven to stop excess bleeding in some cases. I've heard that for years.
In the comments, someone mentions carrying a small bottle of vinegar for this same ssituation.
I've used mt.dew on a bleeding bass before and the bleeding stopped. Did it live afterwards? Who knows. I felt better about its chances anyway.
