Ecofina 5-14-16 fishing report.

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

Met Lavon and his two sons at his house to go fishing with them at 5:00. We loaded up and headed to Ecofina. We were the second boat to launch this morn. We got in and headed south. Image. It was rougher than we expected so we skipped top water and broke out the jigs. We moved around a lot with out much to show for it. Image. I even broke one of my poles while casting it. URG!!! Image. After two hours and no fish we decided to head Aucilla direction and immediately started picking up fish. Image. Image. We never really got into them. We would pick up a couple keepers and try to redrift and not pick up any more so we would move. The water was pretty clear towards Aucilla. Image. All in all we had a great day and caught a nice mess of fish. We never could find the magic color though. Lots of boats out today. Image.

We would have had probably 5 more that came unbuttoned right by the boat. But that's the way it goes.

nice catch. Some days there's not much of a pattern' particularly low tide movement days. Any particular depth?

5-6' mostly. I just wish we had gone north 1st and hit the morning feed there in the clearer water. Lots more visible grass towards Aucilla.

Great day and report! So glad to hear water is clearing toward Aucilla. Headed down next week hopefully for last "spring" trip.
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

We were out on Ecofina that day too and the water was stained to the south. Got 3 trout and a Bluefish.
