Do you think the stand was trying to run?

Ha ha. The board in tree broke then the nails worked out. I am surprised it's not on the ground.Flint River Pirate wrote:Do you think the stand was trying to run?

How soft is that ground? Looks like the tree has started to lean.
We had one fall the other day because of wet ground. It had been leaning for a little while.

The more I know about something, the more I know that I did not know as much as I thought I knew that I knew.

You need to watch that treehouse series on TV and get some tips. Those boys do some serious work up in the trees!
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
Re: Deer stand problem.
maybe use some type of jack and just make you a brace like the other side?
Re: Deer stand problem.
dang. Glad there weren't people in the box.
May want to invest in some 2x6s for the rebuild. Either that 2x4 had a lot of pressure on it or wasn't in the best of shape.
Jack may be tough. I'm thinking a come-along from the top to help reset. Good luck!

In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

The stand has been up a while. The come along was what I was thinking of using.

If you don't have a come along a ratcheting tie down strap might work if you put it around the trunk and some or all of the stand. I used one recently to stretch chain link.

This is why I don't attach these type stands to a tree. It's not a matter of if, it's when will this happen... It needs to be sitting on a platform or on 4 legs braced very well. Good luck.

Well the help of two teenagers I saved the stand. . . . It's not permanently fixed yet. But it's back up and secure till I build a new ladder and redo the tree braces.
