Re: St. Marks 8/7
I was using a weighted hook that is designed to rig a soft-bait weedless. Sort of like a very light (1/32, Ithink) jig head. I don't think the baits were getting very deep, though which may explain why we got trout and not redfish.

St. Marks 8/7
Fished Saturday morning. Step 1: castnet 2 dozen or so finger mullet. Plan A was to work the rising tide around oyster bars for redfish then Plan B, go deep and look for Spanish. Plan A worked except the takers were trout . 3 keepers, 2 over 20 inches (two anglers). 2 trout were caught on a suspendi...

Another Cobia Story
Had a trip scheduled for weekend of June 11 operating out of Shell Island Fish Camp (nice people, great service, great value). We planned to fish inshore Friday and offshore Satruday. The offshore trip was scuttled halfway to the mouth of the St. Marks by a balky outboard. Called to the fishcamp and...

Re: should I stay or should I go ?
I'm living a similar plight. Shell Island Fish Camp reserved for second week of June. Can't do anything but hope for the best and prepare for the worst. . . .

Re: Shiamno Sale and show at Kevins 4-17-2010
Is there a start time or a schedule for the demonstrations? Thanks very much for this info. I bought a butterfly jig settup yesterday and they were nice enough to give me the discount ahead of time, a lesson on setting it up and then set it up for me.

St. Marks 4-10
Fished about 15 miles SE. Three gags and a Kingfish trolling, all released (Kingfish long distance release with nice new plug). Anchored and caught five keeper gags on LYs (one short of a limit). Also, a bonita on a freelined live shrimp. Lots of short gags and red grouper. Off the water by 3 pm so ...

Re: I vote satsuma
Thomasville Road on the east side just north of the light at killearn. I've never covered mine up. My house faces northwest, so planting it pretty close against the house in the back yard has worked out well.

I vote satsuma
For citrus in Tallahassee, my favorite has to be Satsuma Mandarin Orange. Easy to peel, almost no seeds, sweet, ripe in time for Christmas gifts and the most cold hardy true orange. I've got 100 oranges on my 5 year old tree this year. Woo Hoo!

Cool Website Especially for Kayakers
go to emeraldcoastpierfishing.com and checkout the kayak links or search kayak sailfish.
To make a long story short it looks like there is some pretty amazing kayak fishing for sailfish, mahi and kingfish west of here.

Re: Panama City Pier
On Saturday I saw probably 10 very large redfish landed at the pier. Most over 30 inches. Lots of spanish caught (including by me). Spinner sharks were mostly caught on Sunday. Not like it was when I was a kid -- better now even though the pier is a little bit hurricane shortened.

St. Marks 9/7 and Trash Fish Gumbo
Caught the afternoon rising tide on the grass flats. 2 very nice trout, 1 spanish, 1 blue fish. That combined with frozen grunt and seabass had the makings of Trash Fish Gumbo. Here's how you do it. Chop four big celery ribs and 2 medium onions and a smoked sausage link. Heat 2/3 cup olive oil and 1...
