Re: Need Help with public reefs?
What is the fall grouper scrimmage? In the fall, starting about now, quite a few grouper will start migrating toward the shore about the time the bait fish start heading for deeper water. It gets better and better as the nights and the waters get cooler. Mid October to mid November are prime time. ...

Re: Safe Travels into Talquin
Redphisher, You are talking about one of my favorite areas on that lake. I have caught many limits shellcrackers in those waters during the spring. The catfishing can be excellent especially up in the river when the storms swell the river out of its banks. Good number of specks are caught up there i...

RB, If it were to get to the point of walking, I think I might buy some aftermarket octane boost in a bottle. That NAV out to be tough enough to take it don't you think?

Re: Need Help with public reefs?
Welcome rayray' There are artifical and natural reefs close to St Marks and a few more close to mashes sands and all around the Ochlochnee Shoals. Most public reefs are published on the OAR website, the FWC website, and some are on this website. Sounds like you may have a bay boat. Are you ready for...

Re: WILLIAMS LANDING... GONE?
Hula, I think its mostly the fear that the we little guys will get pushed aside. We will eventually lose another place to launch our boats and fish in peace. Like most folks, I am not thrilled about crowded water, but I wouldn't deny others their chance to enjoy that water, same as me. It is inevita...

Re: Has anyone run recon out past OCHL SHOALS
Thanks captK, That is just what I needed to hear. I'll have to plan on heading out Saturday if the weather is decent and save Sunday as my recovery day. Gonna' load up on a few live pinfish, hit an AJ hole, then hit some live bottom, and troll back in. I'll let you know how it works out. ...edit: It...

Has anyone run recon out past OCHL SHOALS
I have not seen many reports from offshore lately. Between the fuel prices and the heat, I have a hard time getting out there myself. If anyone has any current information, I would sure appreciate it. When did you go? How was the water clarity? How bad was the floating grass? Did you bottom fish? Di...

Re: "Deeper" Water Chumming
If you venture over to Dog Ballard take a big rod. There have been some monster jewfish out there this summer. I had one at about seven feet long chase a hooked grouper to the surface. What a sight. Caught a few cobes out there a little over a month ago.

Bream may have small mouths, but they cain't keep secrets, especially those females. You would either have to kill em' or take your chances I reckon.

Re: Trolling In August....
Redfin, I reckon trolling could beat setting still, if for no other reason than stirring up a breeze. Sundown is right on about the grass. You'd probably have as much time spent unfouling plugs as pulling them. Its not worth it for me right now, I'm waiting for mid Oct. Things should be sparkin' up ...
