Ditto on non-ethanol fuel for your older two stroke. If you can't obtain it, make sure you use Startron or good additive for treating gas with ethanol.

Keep a spreadsheet on your computer to keep up w/boat maintenance. Change lower unit oil annually. I change my spark plugs annually. Check on water pump impeller changeout frequency for your engine and keep up with that. Do you have a water/fuel separator on your boat (usually in bilge area)?if not,...

Tidewater boats

Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with Tidewater boats? A friend of mine is looking at one but both he and I are not up to speed on them. Any help/advice would be appreciated! :D

Re: Wake Up America!!!

Crispy, I live in Dawg Town - Athens, GA. Our town's vote is always contrary to the rest of the state. I would expect Gainesville (FL) to vote the same way Athens, GA would. College towns are hotbeds for liberals (or if you prefer "progressives"). Change just for the sake of change is not ...

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.

I have a 2002 115 HP (4 stroke) Yamaha on a Scout 177 Sportfish Flats. I have had no problems at all. Great motor - and very economical in regard to fuel.

Re: Motor HELP???

BB,

Do you have a fuel/water separator filter on your boat. They are usually located in bilge area. The filter should be changed annually but checked frequently during year; any water in the bowl should be emptied.

Re: Motor HELP???

The part is a Neutral Safety Switch (~$40). My friend put one on his motor but I just use my remedy (cold start). My motor has only done it about 3X. BTW, be sure to add Marine Formula Stabil anytime you gas up. That will take care of the ethanol issues. The fuel filter I use is a Racor but I'm not ...

Re: Motor HELP???

Chalk, Is this a Yamaha 115 $-stroke? If it is, relax - it's not serious. I have a 2002 Yamaha F115 4-stroke that's done the same thing several times. Have done the research and I'll post back what problem is. Another buddy with the same exact engine had the same problem. I've always gotten mine sta...

PFKing is probably right. Try loosening your fuel cap and see if it dies on you. The only other thing might be the high speed vents in the carb but it wouldn't just die; it would just bog down on you. good luck!

BB, I hooked a 6' bull shark on a topwater mirrorlure (one with props on front/back) in 1.7' of water near the tip of Cape San Blas. It was late evening and fish were exploding on schools of bait. I had just boated a 7.5# red, a big Jack Crevalle, and a 3# trout in all this melee. This thing came ou...
