Offshore 6-1-11

Took off work to fish with some friends for opening day of snapper season. Fairly rough at daylight. Calmed down as the day went along. Ran about 25 miles SW of Panama City to fish in about 130 feet of water. Snapper were hungry. Caught a 7 man limit with the fish averaging around 28 inches/14-15 ...

St. Andrews Bay 5-28-11 and 5-30-11

5/28 Redfish really shallow, really early. Fish on topwater up in the grass. Once the sun came up it seemed like they just stopped feeding. Started fishing for trout around 7, they were on fire through noon when we quit fishing. Just like last week, the baits of choice were suspending plugs ...

Re: Question about flounder Bite on Alligator Pt. Mud Flats

I have never fished the Alligator Pt. Mud Flats, but I can tell you how we caught them over here in Panama City a few weeks ago. If you have a castnet, net you up some bull minnows/tiger minnows. They are like CRACK to a flounder! If you drag it by a flounder he will eat it no matter the time of day ...

Sebile problem

I did what I told myself I would not do, that is purchase a $15.00 Sebile lure. I picked up one of the suspending stick shadds last week and used it on Saturday. It worked great and I ended up catching more fish than my buddy who was using a mirrodine. When we finished fishing Saturday morning I ...

St. Andrews Bay 5-21-11

We have done really well on trout this year but the redfish have been few and far between so we made the decision to go fishing this past weekend for redfish. Launched slightly before daylight and quickly found the redfish and a few trout in skinny water. Had a blast throwing topwater, doa's and ...

5-14-11 St. Andrews Bay

Had a buddy of mine give me a pointer on where the flounder have been stacked up in St. Andrews Bay over the last few weeks. I love to eat the flatties, so I talked two of my buddies into giving it a shot with me on Saturday. Had some bad storms come through in the early morning hours so we did not ...

Re: Any Port St. Joe reports?

We fished it on Sunday. Really strong wind out of the north on Sunday morning, then laid down around 10 a.m. We did pretty well on trout. Had a nice two person limit around noon. Biggest was 25", nice avg of around 18". Probably threw back 3 limits of nice fish. The jacks were running the channels ...

Any Port St. Joe reports?

I was thinking of running over to PSJ this weekend to look for some trout and reds. Anyone fished PSJ bay recently that can give a report? We usually fish around blacks island, but this is a little earlier than we normally fish and I'm not sure if that is where I should be fishing.

Kayak cleaning/buffing

My kayak has a fair amount of small scuffs/scratches on the bottom and sides where it looks like oyster shells have rubbed against it. There are no gashes or deep scratches, just really small scratches that appear white in color. These scratches are highly visible when you get close to it due to the ...

Re: spanish mackeral

The waters in and around Panama City are boiling with spanish smashing bait. I ride along the bay everyday on my way to work and best I can tell they showed up in full force here on Tuesday, but I know some have been caught off and on over the past two weeks.

1st ever kayak trip

I took the plunge and bought a kayak last week. A buddy of mine has been after me for a while to get one. He tells me all these stories of getting close to tailing redfish, etc. so when the opportunity to purchase a Wilderness System Ride 135 at a decent price came around I jumped at the opportunity ...

Offshore Panama City 6-1-10

Went offshore with some friends early morning for the opening of snapper season. The endangered red snapper were plentiful on all our spots ranging from 25 miles to 36 miles offshore. Fished from 130 - 170 feet of water using live pinfish and squirrel fish. Average fish weighed around 10-12 pounds ...

Re: Boating Death

Suicide. He was scheduled to be in court this morning on charges of performing sex acts on a young child. Looks like he was just looking for a way to do it where his life insurance policy would still be valid.
