The flounder seem to be around now (late October). I had some kayak friends catch several in OB on Fri., Oct 23, and I caught this nice one (19 in.) the next day (Saturday)on a Gulp:

Re: Red trout Shootout from the Andros Backwater
Way to break in a new boat!!!! Walt.... looks like you'll have to come down to Uncle Dan's and give a class in the back yard on how to catch redfish.

Re: How to splice coax cable for fishfinder?
Unless it's an ancient one - its multistrand and you can fix it using butt splices.
Chalk is correct.... I've had success for both radar and transducer cable using the little pink butt connectors. Make certain they are crimp on and not heat shrink. The wires inside the insulation probably look ...

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.
I bought a 1991 25 HP Johnson.... carb'd. When you say drain the carbs, oil was mixed with the fuel, so after each use I ran it on the hose, got the RPM to a fairly good clip, disconnected the fuel line, and ran all the gas out of it. I don't know for certain that drained the carbs completely ...

Re: Marine cell booster
They do not work. I bought a Digital Antenna brand 8 ft. cell antenna, their Power Max signal booster, and an adapter cable for my RAZR.... the stuff does not work. I even determined the closest cell tower to where I like to fish, rode to the tower by car, saved the GPS coordinate on a handheld GPS ...

Re: realistic distance in a bay boat
I have taken my 20ft flats boat to O tower. As Tom said, you should be fine with that kind of speed. While stocking up on equipment, you may want to look into an EPIRB.
Ditto on the EPIRB idea. I have a 22 with real high freeboard... my closest waypoint that I fish is about 20 nm out ...

Re: 2008 Carolina Skiff J1650
I have a 2007 model J16 with a 40 HP Tohatsu fuel injected two stroke, both purchased new. My other little inshore skiff sunk at my dock. I reconfigured the old trailer for the new J16. My trailer is the same as yours, a B&S Sportsmen, which I purchased in Panacea from the old Panacea Trailer. Even ...

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.
Let's face it... most people don't run their boat every week. I think fuel injectors hold up better to sitting around unused than does a carb.

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.
Natureboy.... I can tell you that two years ago, I had my neighbor across the canal buy a brand new 90 HP Mercury Saltwater Series Outboard. It has a really good reputation. There were several times that he wondered if he was going to get out on the water because he flooded it trying to start it ...

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.
No problem, Showboat: I've had dealings through the years with Pete Magnuson (Pete's Outboard's Service), now Sunshine Boats & Motors (he bought the place). I was shopping for a 40 HP two years ago, and he said, "Get fuel injection." Fuel injected starts much easier than carbuerated, and there is ...

Great purchase Capt. Waltdawg.... tell Millertime great looking slime. I gather he starts puking if he can't see land... that's a bummer. I know a great place to get graphics on the side of that boat.

Re: Help me decide on a motor please.
When the Optimax first came out, a bunch of them burned themselves up. A knowledgeable outboard mechanic in Tallahassee told me that there were more service bulletins on Optimax than any other outboard in history. However, I'm sure they've fixed their problems. The FWC officers I've talked to say ...
