tow vehicle

I use a Honda Pilot to tow my 21' Boston Whaler and it does an excellent job. Bought it two years ago with the tow package (4500#, $1000) and have enjoyed it more than any vehicle I've ever owned. Gets an average of 20 mph (most of my driving is in the country) and have had zero problems.

The four stroke has more advantage with todays oil and gas prices. Ran short of oil last Wednesday afternoon and had to pay $20.67 per gallon at Carabelle Marine!

HPDI real cost

My 2000 200hp HPDI cost over $2000 in maintenance last year. You must run ring free additive at all times. If the boat isn't used every two weeks you must use fuel stabilizer. The bottom line is in my 120 gallon tank I use $35 of additive and approximately $40 of oil. When added to two dollars per ...

Ring free

Supposedly the ring free is to prevent the plug fouling and fouling of the oxygen sensor.

A friend tells me the fouling problem is showing up in older motors in south Florida.

Yamaha High Pressure Direct Injection

Anyone having problems with this model engine? My Yamaha 200hp HPDI ran perfectly for about 2 1/2 years. Starting this spring it has been a continuous problem. First the oil pump system required several repair trips and replacment of sensor and pumps. Next a series of intermittant overheat warnings ...

Boat Ramp Database

Great idea. About a month ago I posted a note about the marina and boat ramp situation in East Franklin county, and the potential impact on the Visioning Plan process underway. The initial work I did has now been expanded by the Franklin County PLanning and Zoning board to include the rest of the ...

Backup depthfinder

Any suggestions on a backup depth finder to video depth finder. I use the backup in shallow water where the video doesn't perform well. I'm thinking about the first or second level Lowrance (58?) or Garmin (160?)

Just figured out what lawfish meant! NOt much wrong with boat just: oil pump, fresh water pump, raw water pump, anchor winch, power to gps and video, and cowling catch. Think steering still works! Boat just can't survive two successive weekends of visiting children.

If this keeps up you may want to ...

Loss of Boating Access East Franklin County

Boater help is needed to continue usable access for boaters in Eastern Franklin County. Special interest groups are trying to place in the Visioning plan for the county and ultimately the Comp Plan restrictions on launch ramps, marinas and motorized boats. These are often couched in objections to ...

Lanark is the only safe launch in the area for a boat your size. Any other site will require backing your tow vehicle in over the axles and four wheel drive to get out.

Be sure to pay the $7 fee and get channel instructions at the store. The Lanark Boat Club people do a great job and need our ...
