Launching to get to Dog Island Reef and surrounding areas

Post by McRed »

Where is the best place(s) to launch to get there and around Lanark. I've got a 196 Bayreef. Never been in that area and want to fish there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lanark or Carrabele will get you in the area. It's a shorter run from Lanark to the Dog Island Reef.
What was I supposed to do today?

You could also launch at Alligator Point or depending on how much water your boat draws, the dirt ramp off of 98 east of St. Theresa.

Lanark is the only safe launch in the area for a boat your size. Any other site will require backing your tow vehicle in over the axles and four wheel drive to get out.

Be sure to pay the $7 fee and get channel instructions at the store. The Lanark Boat Club people do a great job and need our support to maintain the facility.

Attend the visioning meeting in Appalachicola on May 20th at 7:00pm to get support behind the county spending some of our tax dollars for boat ramps.
