Re: bucket question
I know you asked about buckets but just thought I would pass along that I use a rectangular clothes hamper bungeed to the back of my leaning post to store my gear. Works great & is out of the way most of the time. Tall enough to control several sets of fins even on the bumpiest of rides.

Re: Are fishing regulations and enforcement, out of control?
No & no. But I'm not one that feels like I need to fill my cooler every trip or my freezer every season.

Re: Prop repair?
All the shops in the area that I know of send them off for repair. It's usually a one week turnaround deal. I take mine to Parkway Marine since its close to where I live.

Look for happy mullet. There's usually a red or two around where you find mullet jumping.

Re: GPS questions from a primitive fisherman
The Garmin Etrex will do the basics such as position, save marks, bread crumb trails, speed & very basic mapping. I have one for my ditch bag. From your description of your needs it will do just fine. One accessory I would get is a 12v plug as the battery life on these can be pretty short.

Re: How I fillet trout.
My method is similar, except instead of removing the filet from the carcass I simply slice almost to the tail but leave the side on butterflied. That makes it easier to skin since you can hold on to the fish and really flex the knife against the tabletop to cleanly remove the meat. I use a Victorin...

Super Soaker water gun or Silly String?
Re: SEAFOAM
Not bad. Save a $1.00 per can over Walmart's regular price of $6.97.
