I was told by one of the dealers that the older 2 stroke motors had more power ,that it would get up on plane a lot faster than some of the 4 stroks. He said in 5 to 10 years their would be no more 2 stroks. Modern technology I guess.

Thanks Rhettley . I just talked to a person who has a 1998 2 stroke Suzuki and he said he has never had a problem with his motor. He stated he was at lake Walter F George this past weekend and ran the motor all over the lake, no problems. Makes you wonder if the older models were built a little ...

Your right Flint River Pirate I could use that extra money for some up grades on the boat. I am still comparing the two motors,haven't made my mind completely up yet. The information I am receiving from this forum has been a great help. I will search for more information and compare warranties ...

Thanks reelhandy I will check out that web site & see if I can purchase a data card. I will get back with you when I get the card. I only need the download in the Big Bend area, because it has the best fishing anywhere around. Thanks again, sorry about the double post. Senior moment !!!

Reelhandy, I have almost given-up on finding any data for my 178 c. I have been looking at a garmin 441s or a 541s. I don't even have a data card for the 178c, so I figured all was lost for the 178c. I have since called the garmin company, and asked them about my garmin 178c sounder and they stated that model is out dated and no longer in stock. They also said they did not have or produce any data cards for the 178c sounder. They did give me some compynies to call that may have data cards for ...

Garmin sounder
I have a Garmin 178c gps map sounder, that I no longer can get hot maps for. Could someone tell me if they prefer Garmin or lowrance electronics. I do not want to take any chances while on the water. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
