The HB does normal sonar as well as SI and DI. The lowrance has a dedicated DI crystal in its transducer so generally regarded as better than HB in that image only.
If you run right over the top of something with di great you see it, but what if it is 46 ft to the side, like in the picture? With DI ...

Re: Outboard compression test questions?
142, did you run the test with the throttle wife open? The only reason I ask is because I saw below the suggestion to oil the cylinders. This is good suggestion but you have to make sure to burn all the oil off before compression testing, the oil will act as a seal and give false readings. With ...

Re: Electronics for new boat?
I'm partial to HB 998 SI, if you go to artificial reefs it make sit much quicker to find structure. I also have the gps with heading sensor so my screen never flops around. The Lowrance HDS touch seem nice, you do have to install 2 transducers and it does not come with the side scan transducer ...

Re: Any real chance catching a gag in State waters off Taylo
Thanks, Seachaser. I think what I'm going to do is troll while I scan with SI and 2d sonar looking for rocky and live bottom.
mj, this is why I asked.

Any real chance catching a gag in State waters off Taylor co
Just looking at charts and it seems pretty plain bottom off of Taylor county. I'd like to put out of Keaton and catch a gag, anybody got any advice. I'm not asking for your favorite #'s here, more looking for info on how to fish them and what to fish with?

Jim

Re: anyone have an IPilot Riptide?
Spot lock depends on GPS signal, if you have 4 bars showing on the remote you should hold within 5' or so. Less bars mean the hold will increase. If you have 80lb TM on light boat it may over react, conversely if you have a 55lb on a heavy boat it will be slow to react. IF you are about stopped when ...

The only time I have used my anchor in last 18 months since getting i pilot was when my buddy left his anchor at home and I let him borrow mine.

Re: anyone have an IPilot Riptide?
I have one, you can work it around fast enough to avoid shallow spots oyster beds and rocks. I will never own anything else again. Is there times when a foot controlled or hand control would be a little more convenient sure. If you have hand or foot control now is there a lot of times the remote is ...

Chinese knock off off both Johnson Outdoors (Minn Kota) and Motor guide. Looks like they took parts from both to make theirs.

I've never heard that trailers are exempt from carry the registration in GA. You must carry that paper for the vehicle, not sure why you think it is not required for the trailer as well?

Re: Droid, IPhone, what's the real deal?
Bought my daughter an iPhone 5 for her birthday 9 days ago, on Friday had to send it back to apple to be repaired. If something goes wrong and it is not fixed with factory reset or new sim card it is back to apple. They are not exchanged in the carries store no matter what protection/apple care you ...

Re: Side Imaging - SI Do you use it ?
I have the HB 998, to date I can not say that it has really increased my catch rate consistency on the flats (less than 4 FOW). Seems to be because of a few issues. If you ONLY fish in a few FOW knowing what I know now I'd be hard pressed to recommend paying for that feature from any brand. I do all ...

Re: Radio Frequency?
I'd hate to have a working radio in the boat and have a friend/acquaintance sinking and not know it because my radio was turned off.
I'd hate even more to be sinking and none of the closes boats have their radio on.
