I think Harmsway,s scale is dead on. Ive been through every stage and would suggest getting to know your boat and your skills with rough seas. I think in some cases the boat will handle more than the captain.

You need to disconnect the throttle and shift cables. then remove breather, I have one of these motors and do one carb at a time. the bowl screws are soft so use a screw driver that fits well. use carb cleaner and air to blow out all passages. Good luck
