I'm originally from Va Beach. The trout fishing is definitely better up there than it used to be. Nothing like the Gulf though. There is actually a decent tarpon fishery, just not a lot of people know about it. They catch them on the bay side of the Eastern Shore in the summer on dead baits fished ...

Started buying Shimano Cumara rods a while back. Pricey but hard to fish with other stuff now that we have them. We have been using Crucials for bait casting for years. It's just hard to keep track of Shimano stuff because they change so much.

FWC ended the February closure this year, and handing the rod off is really gray-area-ish. Especially for a couple hundred bucks or so.
