Re: Keaton 6/4
Me and the wife was at Keaton once out in front of Yates creek . We started seeing a shark here and there and were only catching short rock bass so I made up a cut bait rig from some lady chunks and within minutes had a 5ft one on and boat side. Then we noticed maybe 8 more circling. I quickly ...

Re: Thanks Big Bend Marine
Saw a couple loads of trailers pulling in there last Friday when I came through there. They must have been getting ready. We kind of made a joke in the truck about "everyone is getting ready for scallop season ".

Re: Shimano Curado/Adu Garcia & G Loomis
I'm not trying to stir trouble here but if the crank is on the right and it is a baitcaster that would be a right hand reel.
right?
right?
Re: Kast King
I need a cheaper braid for my guests that go fishing with me. They go through PP like pins go through Gulp.
Or maybe I should just throw some mono on there and give them some soft plastics lol.
Serious though, I have had a good bit of trouble with pp lately. I have found that Spiderwire stealth ...

Re: Taylor County Parking Permits
I read some about that through Sea Hag as well.
Also last Saturday they had a guy at the line checking for permits and recording license numbers. I had no issue with my yearly permit but he still recorded my tag number. I'm not sure what he told the other boat with us because I know they did not ...

Re: Weekend trip to Keaton
90% of our fish was not caught on cork (while 90% of the people I saw were using corks). I think the chop had them closer to the bottom.

Re: Weekend trip to Keaton
Fished 4-5 for trout. Got the reds in close. I think my boat caught 10 reds total no puppy reds either. We saw a pile of fish that were tight lipped though. Darker water seemed better in the morning then cleaner water in afternoon. After 5 both days I was catching trout on topwater in 3-4ft. Fun ...

Re: Weekend trip to Keaton
We were targeting crab traps when we came across them and that's where he came from. I've caught small ones before like that.

Re: New to saltwater fishing
Yeah it's a good idea to just look for boats and see where they are on what tide. This will give you some clues. But remember just because people are fishing don't mean they are catching. You need to try and key in on any bottom that is vastly different from the bottom around it. Oyster bars do ...

Re: Sale on Gulp baits
I also am no fan of the softer gulp as far as how long they last. But they do have a much better action for me. Seem more buoyant with a more flutter type sink rate. Really wish they offered both the old and the new because they both have their place. And I'm normally the last guy to hook on a gulp ...

Weekend trip to Keaton
Was back and forth all week whether we were going to go the weekend or not but we decided Friday morning we would try it. Could not get things together and work stuff was holding us up but we finally got away Friday afternoon and got down around 5. Got things settled in where we were staying was ...

Re: Gheenoe question for a friend..
I have a Gheenoe Classic that I fish the flats, creeks, and oyster bars with. COuple of times I went out and had no issues until coming in with a 15 mph wind and running into the wind. Was pretty wet ride but just spray and safe. I don't use it as much since I got a bigger boat but I still use it in ...
