Re: Florida Black Bear Season approved
I agree. The only time I ever see a bear in my club where I could actually shoot it is over corn. Other times it's just either early in the morning or late in the evenings walking roads. Either way. Without baiting I am not confident at all I could kill one. So I'm not going to waste 100 bucks ...

Re: Small craft advisory. . . . .
We went. Waited until the first line went by then ran out. There were still hundreds of boats out there. Pretty rough out there. Found a few scallops. Not nearly as thick as they were several years ago. We didn't have to deal with the ramp so can't speak for that.

Re: Big green egg users
Once you figure it out you will be addicted! Check out the ceramic grill store (Google it... I don't have the exact address) they have an adjustable rig that allows you to have multiple grids set up at different levels and you can get the ceramic plate for indirect cooking. It's more versatile than ...

Re: Fish Quiz
After reading about it I think the top could be a small King. The lateral line does have a sharp drop off and the dorsal fin is not as dark.

Re: St. Marks 4/10
First time I ever said that and probably the last! And to the baits we were throwing Top water spooks and new penny gulps without a CT.

St. Marks 4/10
Started out the morning on the east flats. We got into the monster trout and could not get out of them! We ended up with 11 over 20 inches before we decided to move and try to find some smaller fish to fill the cooler with. I think by that time the bite was nearly over. We managed 2 more right at 19 ...

You will hear them start gobbling within the next few weeks as the weather warms up.

Re: Thinking about starting Turkey Hunting
Agreed fishin fool. That's why sitting over a corn pile for turkeys is non ethical and illegal. They can't visit at night and won't come in with wind to their advantage.

Re: Thinking about starting Turkey Hunting
Sounds more like turkey shooters than hunters. Turkeys lack one less instinct than deer. So yea I wouldn't recommend anything illegal to a new turkey hunter.

Re: Thinking about starting Turkey Hunting
Scout roads and open areas for tracks and dust bowls. The latter may be tough to find with the wet weather. Listen first thing in the morning for gobbling on the roost. If you can find where they are roosting you will be ahead of the game. If you can find where they are going straight off the roost ...

Re: Youth Waterfowl Hunts
I'm glad you took note of how they did it and decided not to participate. As a former youth that learned how to duck hunt in leon county, I strongly disagree with teaching kids to duck hunt by setting them up on a corn pond. Sure it might grab their attention, but they will be let down when they go ...

Re: Carr Lake Management
I haven't been out there in a while. But I do have a 12 pounder on my wall out of there. Caught in 2004. When people water skied out there. It had a lot of hydrilla back then and it was not easy to fish but held a lot of monster bass. I haven't been back recently enough to have an opinion now though ...
