Re: Econfina 7/10
Looks like she had fun! I'm blaming those sharks for the poor fishing the past several months. Towards the end of last summer I started catching tons of young little sharks, more than ever before, and ever since then the fishing hasn't been what it used to be.

Re: St Marks 5/16
It's not just trout though, the other stuff isn't biting either. The flounder and reds aren't hitting like they used to. Something is awry, but what?

Slow at Econfina 5/23
Got there late and headed East from the river. We fished the creek mouths and oyster beds and caught 3 catfish and a 17" trout. Someone pulled up on us and started fishing and wouldn't you know it, that's when I spotted a group of feeding reds between our boats, heading towards his boat. Someone on ...

Thanks, I did. No luck. I think I got what I need on ebay and it's on the way. We'll see. To buy new, it would exceed the value of the motor

Anyone have a 15 or 9.9 johnson for parts? 1987 to 1990
I'm looking for the tiller handle assembly for a johnson or evinrude 9.9 or 15 hp motor. The type I need has the red button you connect the lanyard to on the end of the twist grip. Please let me know if you have one of these and how much! I have a motor I'm trying to get together for my jonboat and ...

Re: aucilla boat ramp
Hmm... I've been mostly going to Econfina and have been recently thinking about trying aucilla. Y'all got me thinking I should just stick to Econfina now

Re: Cast netting mullet
I went today out from Panacea. I didn't have much time to fish, so I went somewhere I was familiar with (still want to check out the canals at S. Marks). I trolled along the docks up towards the 98 bridge and saw nothing. No signs of life in the water at all, other than ducks. So, I pulled in ...

Re: Fishing at Panacea
I tried on the 18th I think it was. We got skunked... not even a trash fish. If I was going to be out there now, I'd probably work my way up the Ochlocknee river a bit for trout and reds and maybe fish the oyster bed reefs out near the river outlet. I never have much luck in the Panacea area though ...

Re: Cast netting mullet
Thank you! I may have a go at it this weekend if the weather is right. I haven't been out of St. Marks very many times, but I may try those canals if I can locate them. How about the Econfina/Hickory Mound area... does anyone have experience with this in that area? I tried a couple weeks ago around ...

Cast netting mullet
I've been working on broadening my abilities so that when the fish aren't biting, I can still come home with some groceries. I have learned to throw a cast net and I want to catch mullet and maybe shrimp if I can. I hear they should be grouping up in pods this time of year in shallow water. My plan ...

Re: Need a boat for flounder gigging
I have only recently begun flounder gigging from a boat and have spent maybe 15-20 hours doing it. From what I can tell so far, I would want a fairly stable boat with a platform up front, and if you will have one person driving while the other gigs, I would want the driver to have a foot controlled ...

Re: Trying to learn to gig flounder
Well, we went last night and I saw 14! In the middle of November. Most were borderline keepers, so we didn't gig any, but the lights worked out well!... I wanted a lightweight frame that wouldn't rust, so I used the shafts of some junk weedeaters at the shop, took a pipe bender, and bent a frame. I ...

Re: Trying to learn to gig flounder
Okay, you talked me into it. I'm going tomorrow to pick up a couple of sodium lights. I am trying to not have to run a generator, so I will start off with 2 or 3 70 watt lamps and run them off an inverter. I'll try them this week or weekend and see how it goes. The flounder may be thin now, but I'm ...

Re: Trying to learn to gig flounder
Thanks! I do know what to look for although maybe my eyes aren't as "trained" to look for them as someone who has been doing it for years. I think lighting may be a major factor though... my lights are not so great... a spotlight that uses a car headlamp and a couple floating lights that also use ...

Re: Econfina 10/26
It was dark that close to the river but not muddy, just tannin stained like the river. Water temp was around 71 degrees.
