Re: St. Marks??
Saltydog, I was there yesterday and had similar results. Fished from the fort all the way to marker 39 and never got a bite. I threw jigs, Gulp shrimp tipped with shrimp, a mirrolure, and a gold DoA shrimp and nothing. I would have been glad to catch 3 sand trout, I was skunked and left about 12:30....

Re: Huge Disappointment
Those big trout get big by being smart, they seem to know how to throw hooks better than the rest. Live pins are the best bait for bigguns, go out and try to catch you another one!

Late St. Marks report 12/18
Got to go last Fri. while the water was really low, put in at 10a and tide still falling. Nothing happened until about 2:30 when tide started moving, ended up with 3 nice keepers and caught many just-shorts.I had some fat ones that were 14 3/4'' . White gulp seemed to work best. Haven't been b...

Re: First Time Fishing Low Tide in Winter - Learning Occurred
Be careful out there. Water gets skinny on low tides this time of year, esp. with a north wind like we had on Saturday. It blew a lot of the water out overnight. :o I almost took my boat out Sat. and decided to pier fish a deep river instead. You could try going out later in the day with the incomin...

Aucilla and Econfina Rivers
Did the recent rains mess with the rivers much? I was thinking about trying to snatch some mullet next weekend if rivers wern"t flooded out. Thanks.

Re: Need some local advice for the ochlockonee bay area
I think you said you have access to a pier there. If you fish fresh shrimp or fresh cutbait off the far end of the pier, you might catch some good fish. A 1-2 oz. weight should be enough, depending on how swift the tide is running. Like most fishing, best with good water movement. I like to go out e...

Re: Mashes sands. FYI
Sometimes they just don't wanna eat, nobody knows why My Dad used to say, if you can see fish, you probably won't catch them. Sounds like he was right that day.
