shell island st marks
I never knew of this place until today. Is there anything wrong with the ramp? And do they usually have live shrimp? I usually drive out of my way to get bait when I go to st marks. I don't like going to sheild's because I always feel rushed, and people don't have any patience. The fort is nice if ...

Re: polar skiff 1796 won't plane
Update : changed the prop to an aluminum 13 pitch and it finally leveled out. It takes a long stretch to do it. I'm going to put some new cables on all the controls and see if it helps. Other than that, I would like to put a 90 HP 4 stroke on it, but my wallet wont let me.

Re: Inshore/River fishing: what am I doing wrong?
I thought it was just me. On new years day I fished the bay between live oak and shell island and did not get a bite. I should have taken the shotgun. Ducks were everywhere

Re: Steinhatchee first timer questions
Two boats struck out today. Not even a bite. It is really shallow out there. I found alot of one and two foot water. There wasnt any action to be found. Maybe better luck tomorrow.

Steinhatchee first timer questions
We're heading over for thanksgiving week and going to have a lot of kids to take fishing. Is there anything to worry about? Rocks and such. I'm used to st marks and econfina. I'll be in a 8' wide skiff. Also any pointers on getting these kids a fish or two would be great. I've never been in this ...

Re: st marks this weekend
Well we got skunked. No water at the island till after 3. Got out around 4:30 and fished the long bar and spring creek entrance. Live mud minnows, gulps, and a top popper. Three catfish and a 3" trout. Water was muddy and warm. So we enjoyed the sunset and got back and cooked a delicious jam packed ...

Re: st marks this weekend
I guess we are geared up and going. I don't think we will catch much but it's gonna be a day of riding. I've never made the trip from the island so we'll see.

st marks this weekend
St Marks is having the reopening of the light house. My brother was one of the carpenters on the project. They redid the floors, and fixed the stairs going up. It looks really nice inside. There is probably going to be a crowd down there.
But how is the fishing? We are thinking of heading out of ...

Re: polar skiff 1796 won't plane
I finally got to run it again since the carbs, impeller, splugs and wires were changed. Still won't plane out. Any one know of a guy that will take it out on the water and fix it without breaking the bank?
I'm thinking it may be the prop but I am now clueless. I don't think it is water logged.

Re: St. Marks 7-28
Went out saturday from the light house. Boat wouldn't plane out so that kept me close by. Hit outside of the channel and caught a big shark i think. Never saw it but it had my rod bent almost breaking and it ran three times from the boat before cutting the line above the poppin cork. That was cut ...

We went out with the Jubilee the weekend before the 4th. There was only one legal snapper caught and about 40-50 people fishing. Caught a ton of tiny vermillion and grunts. Usually bait size. There were 4 of us fishing, with three kids. It was less than a foot, 100 degrees, no breeze at all. Right ...

Re: polar skiff 1796 won't plane
The guy I bought it from mentioned the bow riding high. He used it as an oyster boat, Id imagine he didn't have that problem with a bunch of weight on the bow. He said he went through the carbs and water impeller/pump. I don't take people on their word much. It wasn't peeing like it should, even ...

Re: polar skiff 1796 won't plane
I sent it to the mechanic. I gotta have a hip replacement tomorrow, so I will worry with it when I get back on my feet. I took all the plugs out and no water came out of the inner hull. He is redoing the carbs. Said it was a good motor. I was worried because I have read that those hulls can get ...
