Re: Anyone eat sharks caught from the surf?
I would describe their taste as, "Good enough". I don't make a habit of keeping them because they stink. I've been told they make great civiche, but I don't eat that either so I don't know. I thinks it definitely worth trying. You may really like it. Now, if you catch a stingray, fry that puppy up ...

Re: Black sea bass
Black bass is one of my absolute favorites to eat. I filet just like anything else-- remove the sides and then carefully skim the meat from the skin-- but the smaller ones can be difficult. As far as cooking, they are really good fried, but the big ones are really good when blackened.

Re: Scallop reports
Rounded up about 70 altogether. They were spread thin, but they are out there. Water on the east flats had a tint to it, but visibility wasn't too bad.

Saturday disappointment
Hit the water out of carrabelle at 7:30 am and ran out about 16 miles. Chop picked up a little faster than expected but we nailed 1 keeper and 1 short snapper right off the bat. I had one nice snapper on the line that got claimed by the tax man, but That was it. Fished hard until 1 and gave up a ...

Re: Angler Ethics?
I figured I'd drop a past experience here. As a guy in a bay boat I've had a few dbags get way too close and show me just how big of an arse they could be. I stay calm, collected and back my boat as close to them as I dare. Then trim up my 225zuke and politely give them a bath. Then trim down and ...

x2 on checking your guides. Not long ago I was on the verge of writing a very nasty e-mail to the good folks at Power Pro after losing multiple lures, when I realized that the true reason was a tiny groove in on of my guides. After I replaced it I never had another issue.

Re: Angler Ethics?
In hunting and fishing I always try to stay as far away from other folks as possible. Even if it means going out of my way. I hunt and fish to get away from people and it supercedes my need for success. Having said that, we had a similar situation a couple of weeks ago. I am talking about the fouled ...

Re: Opening day of scallop season Keaton beach.
Sad to hear that. Hopefully it's not a sign of a light season. We fished econfina last week and saw quite a few in the grass. Maybe they came in further west?

Re: Gheenoe question for a friend..
I've had both a 15 foot jon boat and a Gheenoe LT-25. (still have the Gheenoe)
I can't say I felt any safer in the Jon boat. Both will work for creek fishing out of the Lighthouse. Neither would be suitable for Ochlochnee Bay. You have to think in terms of "protected water" with these boats. Don ...

Re: Can't Catch a Break!!
My dad's on hos way down to visit for the week. I am also a little perturbed at the weather forecast as we were hoping to run offshore. On an unrelated note, I think I feel a bout of the flu coming on Thursday and friday.

Haha! That is a great story. I was hoping for a happier ending for you, but that's how it goes sometimes. At least you got some excitement out of it.
