Guys I appreciate all the help on getting me on some fish through the fall. I've kind of gathered that the reds around St. Marks will go up in the river. When does this happen? Do all of them take off up there, or are the resident reds that stay out on the flats?
I've also been curious...in the ...

St. Marks trip report 12/7
Hey guys. I ended up driving down and going on the kayak yesterday around 11:30. Wind did get up, like I was forewarned about. I fished the outgoing tide and caught absolutely nothing. I did not catch a fish until 3:34 pm...when the tide started coming back in. I found a cut between oyster bars with ...

Re: St. Marks reds/trout
Didn't see where you were talking about tomorrow. Yes, definitely looks promising and they should be chewing after the front passage. Wish I was going tomorrow. Will be testing the new Beavertail Mosquito instead. Darn!
Good luck and give us a report.
Will do. I'm not a stranger to ...

Re: St. Marks reds/trout
The Weather Channel isn't the most accurate marine forecast.
Here are a few that are a little better, if you count 50% accuracy at best.

Re: St. Marks reds/trout
They might still be there, if all this rain water hasn't made it's way down to the mouth of the river yet. Good luck if you go, I bet it'll be windy.
According to the weather channel the wind isn't supposed to get over 5 mph. Do the reds move up into the rivers or out further into the bay ...

St. Marks reds/trout
Hey guys, been following these posts and all trying to keep up with the reds and trout. I was contemplating going down tomorrow. Are there still fish on the oyster bars and all? I have been catching them for the past couple months but haven't been lately.
Thanks for any help guys

Re: New member---St. Marks fishing?
I went around 10 am today. Caught 9 reds, 2 cats, a few small trout and a big jack. The reds...8 between 15-17" and one was 30". The big one was an absolute blast, along with the jack. It was 17" and pulled like a freight train. The big red got out of the kayak between me measuring and getting my ...

Re: New member---St. Marks fishing?
Is the fishing better with an outgoing or incoming tide? Gonna head back down tomorrow for the day and try to catch a few around the oyster bars again

Re: New member---St. Marks fishing?
Congrats on your first red. Go dawgs. If you are fishing out of a kayak the oyster bars at St. Marks are the easiest place to stick a red. Also we just pull up onto the bars and fish off of them. If you are looking to spend a day fishing it can be nice to stretch your legs. You can set your drag ...

Re: New member---St. Marks fishing?
I ended up going this afternoon out of boredom. It was a trip. I get there and within 5 minutes find mullet running. So I begin to fish thinking maybe some reds will be running these mullet...until a fin shoots by my kayak full throttle. Scared the daylight out of me. So in 2 ft. of water a dolphin ...

Re: New member---St. Marks fishing?
Thanks ugadawg. Graduated from there in '14. I will more than likely go down in the morning and try to fish most of the day. I'm bound to run into moving water sometime

New member---St. Marks fishing?
New guy here...past week I've been trying to catch my first redfish out of my yak down around Mexico Beach. I was thinking of trying St. Marks because it's closer to Georgia. I was thinking of going down this afternoon or tomorrow all day. How is the fishing there right now? I want to catch a red ...
