St. Marks trip report 12/7

Post by thutchi3 »

Hey guys. I ended up driving down and going on the kayak yesterday around 11:30. Wind did get up, like I was forewarned about. I fished the outgoing tide and caught absolutely nothing. I did not catch a fish until 3:34 pm...when the tide started coming back in. I found a cut between oyster bars with a minor ditch (maybe 3 feet deep) and trout were absolutely stacked. I caught over 35 trout on gold spoons and shrimp. All but 2 were in the 12-14" range. The other 2 were 17".

As I was going in right at sunset, bummed about not catching a red, I stopped at the oyster bar right at the cut going into the boat ramp. First cast my spoon decided to get smashed by a nice red. He completely swallowed it...I mean he absolutely hammered it. I had an awesome time as usual. That place has not let me down yet! Thanks for all the help from the guys that give me tips on here. It is much appreciated.
