Re: Everything is Endangered……. Not really of course
Boomhauer, If you are having trouble shutting a cooler with 7 gags in it, YOU need a bigger cooler. Like you, we’ve encountered copious numbers of gag grouper and red grouper on my boat. We’ve seen lots of evidence that should result in lengthening gag grouper season and red grouper season. We see n...

FCA Ernie Stevenson Memorial Inshore Fishing Tournament--Nov. 16, 2024
This past weekend I saw a flyer at Kevin's Guns and Sporting Goods announcing the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' First Annual Ernie Stevenson Memorial Inshore Fishing Tournament. I am not affiliated with the tournament or FCA, but I had the privilege of knowing Ernie and fishing with him. Fishing...

Re: Is it Okay to Double-Team a BIG Fish?—Carrabelle fishing report for October 25, 2024
Is it OK to double team a big fish? Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. Nice pics as always. I have to agree with you about the flawed science pertaining to our fish populations. I wish I thought of your line "Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do." It's a good o...

Is it Okay to Double-Team a BIG Fish?—Carrabelle fishing report for October 25, 2024
When I was in elementary school, my grandfather told me about the time he hooked a big shark while he was fishing with a guide near Naples. The shark pulled and pulled at the line as my grandfather tried to reel it in. At some point, my grandfather became exhausted from the fight and asked, “Can I g...

There is no shortage of gag grouper in the Big Bend area.fishinfool wrote: ↑October 15th, 2024, 8:07 am It still surprises me to hear of people catching Gag Grouper since NOAA biologists say the populations are way down.
I'm glad you were able to get out and enjoy the waters and catch some fish. Great pics as always.

Rammed by a shark while fishing for AJs and red snapper—Carrabelle, October 13, 2024
Favorable winds and sea conditions for offshore fishing finally returned to the Carrabelle area on Sunday. Hurricanes Helene and Milton and other storms made offshore fishing impossible. For weeks, I used my spare time to complain about the weather and to tie combinations of hooks, leaders, and swiv...

I think there are some rainbow runners in the first pics…. Nice variety of fish in all pics….. Nice lockdowns too…. They are actually tasty. Great post Thanks for checking out my post. I think you are right about the rainbow runners being in one of the photos. When I drop a camera down, it's always...

Re: The Spot I Call AJHANGON
Nice haul I need to drop my camehra overboard some… I really started dropping a camera down not to see fish, but to see what the bottom looked like. I really just wanted to understand how sonar images compare to reality. At first, I figured that the camera would scare the fish off, but from what I ...

I bet those redfish were extremely upset that they had been hooked. Good report.

The Spot I Call AJHANGON
On Friday, we picked up the boat from storage at Martin Marine and launched the boat from a ramp along the Carrabelle River. The plan was to catch bait offshore, head to the spot I call AJHANGON and then to target red snapper elsewhere. The water temperature was 83 degrees. Due to the recent tropica...

Re: Steinhatchee trip - It was HOT!
Very nice fishing report.
I think the heat is responsible for the slow bite. Fortunately, the red snapper season will continue into some of the cooler months.

Re: Tripletail late July - Alligator Point
I just went with a guide last week out of St George. The big ones are on the west side of the bridge to St George. I think it has something to do with the river water right there. The west side is where they concentrate. Fads are put out and marked by guides. You would need a flat bay to just ride ...
