My “one that got awayâ€
It was Monday, the wind was from the east and not much was biting. Mostly I was fishing with my spinning reel with 6lb test but I also had a reel with 30lb test on it. I was fishing out the back of my little boat and I put a large pinfish on my heavy rig, cast it out, and wedged it up under the seat ...

Littoral
We were straight out from the beach at Turkey Point, soon to be Summer Camp :( . The FSU Marine Biology Lab is just west of that. My theory, supported by a little research, is that as the tide falls the fish at the bottom of the food chain move off the shoal so we fished the outside of the shoal on ...

Live Vs Dead shrimp and what about rock shrimp?
When fishing for trout is it really better to use live shrimp? The live shrimp tend to be small and for the same price I can get much bigger dead shrimp at a seafood place. I’ve never been convinced that live shrimp work better.
My next question is would rock shrimp work for trout? When they are ...

Turkey Point Flats 10/2-4
My first post here on Inshore Fishing Reports; this is exciting. We set out from St Teresa Saturday Morning at first light headed to the flats. We had some live shrimp and some dead shrimp and soon caught a few pin fish to go along with our shrimp. We fished the outside of the flats in the morning ...

The reason for all the Mullet is that my dad passed away last October and he is no longer depleting the population. The problem is I’m just not any good with a cast net and I don’t get down often enough too practice. Dad had several nets but we gave a couple of them away to needy cast netters in ...

Where are the best places to fish from shore?
I’m going to be at St Teresa this weekend for 3 days of fishing and beer drinking. I went down weekend before last to see how bad my boat leaked and my motor wouldn’t work. The motor is in the shop and hopefully will be ready, but if it isn’t I need a fall back position. I’ve got equipment ...

Tackle box question
It is time for me to buy a new tackle box so I’m looking for any advice suggestion guidance or words of wisdom on how to keep the saltwater from eating up my tackle before I get a chance to use it. I know I’m not the only one with this problem and I would really appreciate it if some of you more ...

Exceeding the recommended HP
I have inherited an Alumacraft boat that has a recommended maximum of 20 HP. I was wondering how dangerous it would be to put a 25 on it. Have any of you exceeded the recommended maximum HP on your boats or do you have any experience in this area?

Where is the best place to buy tackle
In the Panacea and/or Carrabelle area? I’ll be at St Teresa so one is as far as the other. I order most of what I need online but sometimes it is nice to see it all laid out in front of you. It warms your heart just looking at it and you almost always end up finding something you really need

The clam farmers stay south of the boat landing
But north of the boat landing there are 4 or 5 places on 98 where people park and walk down to the water. I know people will fish almost anywhere they can get to water but the volume of fishermen has always made me curious. When I was down a few weeks ago I saw a guy pull a very nice trout out of ...
