ME, probably at least once every trip :o

I really like that boat and would use it in the flats over here! I'd wade from it a little, especially with a PowerPole anchor.
Since it has NO steering ...

I suspect the real answer, is probably a combination of all the ideas offered on this thread.
But, no resource can be continually harvested, without sensible management.

Some more than others.
NW Florida has a very, "thin" marsh/nursery zone" and the growing rate of inshore fish stocks is way ...

Re: Garmin 172C and Bluechart

Looking to purchase the Garmin 172C, I know I have seen on here talk of the bluechart. What should I be looking for, the preloaded data card or something else.

I'd recommend the BlueChart Americas v6.5 CD with single un-lock, rather than the pre-programmed Gulf chip and, get a 16MB memory chip ...

Not enough river, do do, around heah!
Only river that drains from fairly far inland is dammed up (Apalachacola up at Chattahooooocheeeee)!
Other rivers are mostly, spring fed (mostly clear spring water).
Inland areas where spring fed rivers drain, Fla. rivers 'round heah flow through sandy soil ...

Not so fast, my friend!
As is always the case, I know the answer to this question.
The reason, comparing La. to Fla., is that La. has a huge, depth of coastal marsh (swamp) compared to this area of Fla. Like the St. Marks to way down towards Cedar Key, the marsh is very, thin, and it's this area ...

You'd loose that bet! I'm not the Great Poobah of the fishing world as you may think. Just a plain ole Country Boy, trying to catch a little fish with a cricket!

For those interested in a drier ride, give Wilderness System's, Pamlico, a look! They have big open cockpits with a choice of 3 hull materials. I've got the fiberglass, Pamlico Lite, that's very fishable and dry, up to a point if you don't go out in heavy wind/surf.
Werner graphite paddles are a ...

Thanks for the come-back!
Have you had better luck in the bigger lakes (Seminole, Talquin) or private ponds, or even rivers?
What kind of ultra-light rods do you prefer? What's your ...

Anybody chase after the slab crappies?
Pay attention, Chalk! I'm not talking about crappy fishermen, so don't bother to tell me how bad you fish and catch!

Keep in mind the mechanics of how a circle hook, hooks a fish -- fish has to swallow the bait/hook, turn, swim away so that the line is at least perpendicular to the axis of the fish (or less of an angle from perpendicular to the fish, viewed towards the fish's tail). That is why no jerk is ...
