knot tying
Thank you for sending in your posts. They will help. I have also heard that I can use the knot that one gets after screwing up casting a baitcaster. In fact I believe Butch Taylor is due an award for untangling a healthy knot during the tournement.

changing lures quick
Ok, I know this is real simple and basic. However, Saturday proved quite frustrating. I had 2 rods to work with. I understand that you want to have a near invisible connection from the rod to the lure. So without using a connector, how or what knot can be used to make the transition from one lure to ...

topwater
Saturday I broke out a yellow Hula Popper. Jerking on it creates a deep sounding tunnel of water. it's not as splashy as a cajin thunder though. I was trying to catch a trout, but caught a Jack instead. At least it did receive some attention.

by the hour?
Man I know I'm going to be learned this weekend. You guys actually count fish by the hour????? I'm going to feel like a guest on the Bill Dance show! Maybe I should leave the cane poles at home this time.

gator catchin'
I have always heard that shinning a light across a lake at night would send chills down your spine, especially at Talquin. I think it would be exciting, intense and down right scary hunting alligators. Sign me up!
Dang, I don't think I have ever seen so many bugs.

confidence
Yep Jumptrout51,
It is like playing the lotto. I know the odds of winning. I just prefer to give a dollar or two to education every once in a while. Then again after last nights meeting, I have new confidence because Butch drew my name. I had a dream last night that I caught a 47 inch speck. So ...

trout on top water
Depending on the direction of the red tide in the shallows, a sturdy dip net may be all you need.

maybe I will win
How long is beginner's luck good for? If this was baseball I'd be batting a .500, worth a couple million bucks a year. However this is not baseball and I have about the same odds of winning Saturday as I do catching a fish while typing this post.

September's Tournament
Will the news of red tide in Franklin County change the tournament? Can the inland waters be fished? Is it safe to eat the keeper fish? If the fish are floating on the surface, is it ok to cull until you find a big one? It is still sorta fishing... I'm still in a boat and they are still in the water ...

dang!
Well I guess I should just leave the poles at home...Who else is there to teach me how to bring in the big ones? Sir Reel told me about his buddy's whopper. I mean who would have thought fish shrink. :-} I hope the trout I caught won't be my only keeper ever!

Fishing with Tin can
Why do I have this gut feeling that new guys like me will be paired up with Tin Can at the September Tourny? You know a breaking in period. Some may call it trama.

must have done good
Finniefish must of taken all there was in the water. Chris and I went out around 2:30pm. Man the tide was screaming out. We were drifting faster than the fish could swim. Except for two cats, nothing at all. Then again it was me who was out there and there could have millons of keepers right under ...

Now see, I like being around a bunch of folks who know how to play fair....Everyone is a victim of harassment. Your only alibi is the fish you didn't catch.

I'f I join the club before the tourney will I get picked by someone. My fishing credibility is slim. I know very little about the tricks of the trade, though I do enjoy learning and hearing about other folks experiences. My only claim on decent fish are a 33 lb Amberjack and a 6lb 27 inch speckled ...
