channel

Not many in our area practice the rules of the road, not even Captain Anderson Dinner cruise boats nor our own Marine Patrol. Stories ...

You could if they can still be found buy a boat shaped pool blow up with a bottom shaped like a boat and tow your chest with that. Less resistance than innertube....or a small flat bottom boat could be made with door skins using the stitch and glue method. OR make a pontoon catarmatan out of foam ...

glad you didnt learn a hard lesson

Many years ago I learned that if you are going to stringer fish over the side make sure you tie a slip not that can be released quickly. I learned that after a near capsize when a very small shark engulfed a stringer full and took off with my fish, my yak and me. Luckily a sharp knife always kept ...

you are right

Being both a yaker and a sailor the sailing part of me states this Hobie will be a poor sailor. Buy a Hobie Cat! With the extra hulls attached the yaking side of me says ugh! Heavy, slow very hard to steer at slow speeds

Several sailboat manufacturer's have tried to make "power sailors (cruising ...

I concure

Having fished out of Kayaks since 1970 and having owned two doubles each 17' and wide ,stable enough to stand if partner stayed sitting and now having a sit on top I would take two singles around 12 to 14 feet wide as you can get. My drifter supposedly is wide as you can get but it will go over in a ...

wow

You know I never ever thought to try artificials on sheephead. I read recently that they will hit flies occasionally. Would love to catch some though. Think when it gets colder I will stay away from the St. Marks and get to know the Wakulla better (less boat traffic between the bridges and after my ...

Well between your rentals and my willingness to go along "just in case" You are going to have several more regular customers. My workmates caught on very quickly and seemed to really enjoy themselves.

I am mostly a salt water freak but do go there when funds and gas are low. Plan to do a lot of fly rodding there this fall though.

Strike three but not out

Since I got my drifter I have come close to being run down by power boats twice. A couple of weeks ago number three actually hit me and I was catapulted to the kids deck, cracked their windshield and slowly slid back into the water. Somewhere along the way I cut one of my fingers and it turns out ...
