Re: Charter recommendations
Amen to that but I think he's leaning toward dry tortugas so why don't you set up a tuna trip and invite me? I could use some fresh YFT in the freezer again.Salty Gator wrote: ↑December 16th, 2021, 2:03 pm An overnight tuna trip to the oil rigs is something to think about

If leaving CONUS is an option, Panama is due south of the Tortugas.

Re: Charter recommendations
I grew up fishing the Keys and have seen the fort from the water but never took the tourist tour. Should be a great tour for a history buff or for swimming and there's a ton of things to see and do in Key Weird (West) but IMO it's hard to beat Venice.

Re: Airboats in the St. Marks Refuge.
I don't have a dog in this hunt but imo there's nothing wrong with air boats as long as they're operating within the law. If you think they're loud, you should hear the Navy's hydrofoils over this way. 20210714_115648.jpg Air boats aren't restricted to the marshes any more than flats boats are restr...

Re: Sign the Pledge
So I'm pledging to never again buy seafood in a supermarket, order seafood in a restaurant, eat at Capt. D's or Long John Silvers or even order a fillet of fish at Mickey D's? :-D Gill nets should be (and are in most if not all states) prohibited for use for recreational fishing these days but comme...

Re: Lower unit oil
if you dont feel comfortable change it every 6 months ...not that expensive and gives great piece of mind. That's probably a good plan but with my luck, braid would get wrapped around the prop and ruin a prop seal an hour after I changed the oil. I'd like to see a way to monitor the oil's condition...

Lower unit oil
This has always bothered me. I hate waiting 100 or 200 hours before I know if my lower unit is low on oil or if a seal or gasket has gone bad and there's water in the lower unit. How often do you check lower unit oil condition and level? Do you wait until a scheduled service is due or check it soone...

That's awesome!
All I caught today before the wind chased me off the water was 23 trout born with their tails too close to their heads.

Re: Looking for rod holders
Thanks but I looked at that option too and I think if I bent the brackets, the angle would make it impossible to get to the mounting holes.ropeman wrote: ↑November 10th, 2021, 1:48 pm I wonder if you could bend the tabs on this one to fit in the corner?
