Aucilla River Mar 20th.Tuesday

Post by Fisherman989 »

Got down to Aucilla about 12 noon for a try at tide fishing. Gonna fish the rise of the high tide...at 1527 WoodsnWater says. Haven't figured out yet if they have daylite savings figured in. Anyway..the river water temp was 60 degrees. Went on out to the flats and it was 63 degrees....perfect.
First hour was zip. Looked bad. Went on out about a mile....and procedded to strike out. Bad news for us...it seemed. Went back to the first place we tried...and wham....a nice 2 lber. on a topwater plug...Big A. Fished the same area till 5 o'clock and put the limit of 10 in our box....and come home. Perfect day....and the first day on the flats...this season..with any luck to speak of. :D Lots of people out for a Tuesday. Must have been 15 trucks at the landing. All the fish were caught ontopwater lipbaits....Big A, Redfins, Catch 2000 (didnt have a lip) :-?Tops was a 22incher....looked like a 4 lber to me.

Sure glad you found some! Fished up there from Anky
last Friday and got blown away. Bite was poor to say the least
but I stayed busy getting off bars, etc. in the shallow water.
When the tide came in finally got close enough to a couple
creek mouths for some reds.
It may be that my sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
