Stretch trolling

Post by Reel Country »

Alright, I've not done any, well not much, and never by myself. What size should you use in certain depths?

Fishing around 24, you would use? Only ones I have are 25s and some old Rebel broken backs and two Rapala deep divers.

Looks like Jen and I are going to try that area tomorrow, lookin' for bottom.

Take some pinfish!

I troll both around that area. If I troll a 30 in anything less than 35 feet, the I either put the fly in front, or a pull it a little shorter so it doesn't hang bottom.

25's work well out there and I think I have caught more fish on 25's or CD-18's than 30's out there. But, I hardly ever catch shorts on the 30's.

Troll about 3.5-4 mph set the drags and bait clicks just so the baits don't pull drag, but you can easily pull it with your hand. When you get a hit, keep going for another 100 feet or so and have someone reel in the other bait at the same time as you, all the while giving sharp jerking motions. More often than not, you'll get a double like that.

I remember the speed we trolled, but never paid much attention to the actual lures we did troll. How far back?

I'll have pinfish.
