good boat shop
can someone give me a heads up, on a good place to take my boat to get the motor serviced and checked out before i take it out. i bought it from a dealer near gainesville..and i wanted to get it checked before i took it out on the water. i took it to someone (i wont say who) to get it checked on tuesday...they are telling me they cant look at it till monday of next week...is that normal ?
Afternoon Liz.
Yes, it's very possible that what you were told is the straight story. Especially, this time of year. With the way the weather has been recently there is a herd of folks think'n about taking their boat out and before they do, they want someone to check it out.
That being said, the one I would recommend is Waviel Porter in Woodville. He'll be straight with you and he will do his best to have it when he says (if not before!) Good work. Fair prices. 421-1490 Don't be turned off by how his facility may look. He knows what he's doing and he get's em in and get's em out and stands behind his work.

here's another question...the motor runs good...put new stainless steel plugs in. and carborater cleaner. one of the main reasons i took it in..is
when i take it from idle to forward...i have to move the shifter quite a ways before it gives it any gas...and then when it catches..it seems like it's wide open and it shouldnt be...like sometinhg is getting stuck...is there something like the cable that could needs lube ?

Liz, your second question sure sounds like a "it needs dealer attention" issue. You've not mentioned if the rig is new, what make is the motor, etc. If it's new or a possible warranty issue and you don't want to travel back to the point of purchase, I'd look for a local distributor for the product you have. If it's used and none of the above are applicable, I'd still recommend Mr Porter.
