Cedar key fishing

Post by Capt. Ron Schurr »

Heading over to Cedar Key for a club tourny the end of this month. Anyone have any reports on Reds and Trout? Never been fishing out of CK, but am looking foward to it.

Capt Ron - First off welcome aboard and congrats again on that fourth place finish, looking at the score board it, you were in the running for sure, I saw alot of teams in the top twenty that were with in reach.

Cedar Key is a little out of our range, but we do have some members that fish Steinhatchee and Suwannee river area, maybe some of them can pipe in with some information.

Welcome aboard

Here’s the latest fishing report out of Cedar Key:

Here’s the Mar 16th Gainesville Sun’s weekly fishing report by Gary Simpson:

Talk to Paul Oliver at Fish Bones (his bait shop-he’s the Cedar Key mayor too) and he’ll tell you what the bite is like. He’s a nice guy.

Trout are just starting to get strong on the flats near Snake, Seahorse, & Atsena Otie Key. Reds are on the outside of the bars. It’s been windy lately and may have stirred up the water but you can do some good sight fishing for redfish when the winds are low. Have fun.

Look out for oyster bars and rocks. There are places around Cedar Key that make the Aucilla River look like a picnic :o
