Help with Riptide problem
So I installed my new Riptide over the weekend. I took it to St Marks yesterday for a wet test. Boat ran great, however while in the river I dropped the troller and turned it on. It jumped out of the water, so I figured I didn't put it down all the way.
Long story short, I could not get the stainless rod (pin, or whatever you want to call it) to stay in it's keeper. It goes right to the front of it, but that's it. You can't push it in, slam it in, nothing. And there is plenty of slack on the rope, so that's not the problem.
My first thought is to sand the ends of the rod, or file the edges of the keeper. I'm going to get with Minn Kota this afternoon, and see what they have to say.
Any ever encountered this? I do not want to have to install another motor. It is a PITA.

Yes, I have about an inch. I made sure to leave some room so the shaft could "flex" or "bend". It is the bow saver model, so it has a little give to it.
I just found out you can wedge the pin into place with a screwdriver, so this tells me it is a matter of fractions of an inch before it will engage. I mean it aint lacking much.

Got the same problem Rocket, so when you fix come fix mine too.
Mine only does it on the highest speed. It started a couple of months ago. My solution so far has been to stand on it when in high gear...highly scientific.
