Hey guys, haven't made a report in awhile, I have been fishing freshwater for the stiper bass. Notice I said fishing not catching. Anyway back to the coast. Fished out of Carabelle this past weekend. The weather was perfect and the bite was not bad. I was concerned about all the rain and what it had done to the bay. We fished along HWY 98 between Carabelle and East point in a hole I found back in May. We started fishing about 7:15 am with the high being aroung 8:30 or so. Fished until 11:45 and we caught 22 trout, 7 keepers, and only had one catfish. The fish were in a spot maybe 100 yards square. Out of that spot and no bite. All the fish were caught with Candy corn under the C/T in 4 1/2 ft of water. No other color worked period. My dad was fishing with me and I had 4 fish in the boat before he went to the C/T and on his first cast when the lure hit the water the C/T went under. Was a great day to fish and the bite was good enough.

Way to go!
We have a small 15 ft Lancer boat. Where is the best place to launch in that area?
Glad to hear a good report, things have been really, really slow this spring and summer.

I'd rather have a bad day on the water than a good day at work!!
Sharky, I have been putting in at Carabelle. There is a public landing that is closer to the mouth of the river that I like to use. The landing is on the first road to the left after you pass Julie Maes. I have put in at Lanark villiage and that is not bad if you are planning on fishing that area. Most of my fishing has been to the west either behing St George or along hwy 98. There may be a landing at East Point but I have not tried there yet.
