Just out of curiousity, do you pull over for delivery trucks, mailmen and 18 wheelers too? JK - I try to keep out of peoples way when possible myself.

Newbies at the landing can be frustrating, but we were all new once. Its the flat rude people that really get me :smt013 .

That ramp has been a CLUSTER this year.

When putting-in... if I don't know the deal I usually just ask folks - "Are you in line?" Never had a problem.

When getting the boat back folks who load-up, pull 6ft up the ramp, then chit-chat, make me angry. But I never say anything - just look out my mirror and cringe.

One guy was in his pickup truck, in a lawn chair, watching the ramp a couple Sundays ago. Drinking a cold one. I asked for a grade after I got loaded up and pulled out - I think he gave me a B+.

Keep in mind, I'm in a kayak, and if I was driving a kayak around town, the rules of tonnage would apply, so yes i would get out of their way. I get out of the way for the guides because they are making a living, and I can find another spot. I don't fish around someone who is in a tournament either if I know it.

Beats Work. . I know what its like work hard and want to have some fun with your family on the weekends and more importantly catch some fish. I mean no disrespect in any way and I will always show a fellow boater or captain the utmost respect. I used to spend the summers in the keys with my mom and day who were avid flyfisherman before it was the cool thing to do. It got to the point one year where the charter boat captains became so rude it was no longer enjoyable to fish. That's when we decided to fish around Homassassa. This soon got to be the same way. I swore I would never show the same disrespect to any other fisherman guide or not . So I am always respectful of all other fisherman, whether they are guides or recreational fishermen. I do however have a problem with folks that do not choose to learn the rules of the road or common boating rules and regs both on the water or at the ramp and I always show the utmost respect to the folks that have to work hard all week and then try and enjoy a little vacation time on the water on the weekends. That's why we spend so much time on the water. Not all of our charters are on the week days and its important to have those hole in the wall spots for weekends. I just joined the Florida Guides Association and their website offers some great insite and advice to guiding. I hope you see my point and understand that I mean no disrespect. But I do think its important for every body to understand the laws and regulations about safe boating, be it the rules of the road or fishing.

Mojo I charter 24 7 365.

I hear you and feel your pain. I have posted on previous reports the need for courtesy on the water and know what a hassle it can be at the ramp. As the weather started to warm up it seemed like there are more and more posts dealing with etiquette. I just want to be able to get out there and enjoy God's gift of the outdoors with my family and it gets to be more and more nervewracking. Thanks for your point of view. See ya on the water  just not too close :-D

Boating etiquett

I don't have a boat. (that works) so I wade fish a lot. Sometimes with a cast net sometimes with a rod and reel. Boaters, if I can reach you casting a miro-lure you are too close. I don't worry about your wake spilling my drink or dinner but I do worry when the wave put up by your boat is over my head.
