Where to go?

Post by gwheeler »

I'm probably going to take Friday off from work to do some fishing. I'm thinking about going out of either St. Marks or Shellpoint. Any recommendations of one over the other? I haven't gone out of Shellpoint before so I'm kind of leaning towards it (the exploring a new place and all). I'll mostly be fishing shallow.

How big a boat?

Its a pretty flat grade on the ramp, you tend to have to get your truck wheels wet. I've never put in anything but duck boats and jons there. We determined over the years that a 0.6 tide, if the wind wasnt out of the N or NE, we could hunt, but the ramp will go dry if you get much lower.

You should have no problem  with the predicted high tide, you WILL have to get the truck wet to load or unload!!

Wow - 4.18! You dont see that too often.

I have never had my vehicle messed with down there, but it is secluded, and it has crossed my mind before.

Don't worry, the ramp at Shell Point will be reopened. A customer of mine is doing the sea wall const. and the boat ramp as well. Be patient, they will have it open someday....

I hope it reopens soon. I've got a friend who has a place less than 1/4 mile from there that I can leave my trailer at (he's also got a dock I can tie up to:D).
