St Mark's LH 4/13

Post by Woodburn »

Went with finniefish by the LH Friday

Drifted WSW on west flats 8-1130am and caught lots of small trout, 15 w/ 2 keepers caught on jighead under CT, one caught on shrimp under CT, ... also picked up spanish under CT

Nothing was hitting past the pole line although we did see a small school of spanish and got another one under a CT

Stuck with east side of west flats for most of AM
Trolled a spoon going N and caught a blue and spanish in 3-5'

Decided to try east flats around 1130 and caught 2 small trout
Lots of pinfish bites over there

I think we should have used top water and worked jigs off the bottom for more keepers

Anyways... dead tide around 12:15 so trolled out by the bird rack
Went east in about 10'-12' and pick up another spanish

Lots of bait near the birdrack so casted in but nothing hitting
We did see a huge sea turtle - no cobia though

Trolled around rack area and picked up another blue
Called it around 1:30

Overall was a good day
17 trout (2 keepers 16&17)
4 spanish (16-18 range)
and 3 blues
