1060lb. Mako!

Post by JF81 »

On the Chevy Florida Fishing Report tonight Capt. Pat Dineen out of Fort Walton Beach had an interesting report. Some guys were cobia fishing out of Destin when they noticed a large fish swimming down a near by sandbar towards them. It got closer and they noticed that it was a shark with a big fish in its mouth. They threw a jig to it and got the hook-up. They had to call some backup to help them land this fish. They eventually sank a flying gaff and after almost sinking the helper boat, landed the fish. It was a mako, a 1060lb. mako that was enjoying some supper before being hooked up! I can't wait to see some pictures of this fish.

I missed the show twice, but I'm going to tape it this afternoon while I'm out in the crosswalk...what a fish story! :o Hey, Reel Cowboy, I don't think my 9/0 Penn would be big enough for such a grry fight, would it? Nevermind I don't have a "flying gaff" on board! Maybe I need to trade in the .357 Magnum for my 12 guage, eh? Are you fishing this weekend? :email: me!

A foul hooked fish can be break the record, as long as it's not done intentionally. Only reason I know this is from the 25 pound bass caught last year. Same thing happened.

If the smell of human feces is a shark repellent, you would not have to worry about that fish getting too close to me :o
